The number of carloads moved on short line and regional railroads in January 2025 was up compared to January 2024. Carloads originated increased 10.9 percent, from 319,010 in January 2024 to 353,733 in January 2025.
Grain Mill Products led gains, up 37.7 percent, followed by Trailer or Container, up 35.7 percent. Metallic Ores led declines, down 65.1 percent.
