The number of carloads moved on short line and regional railroad in November 2019 was down compared to November 2018. Carloads originated decreased 5.1 percent, from 339,904 in November 2018 to 322,562 in November 2019.
Motor Vehicles and Equipment led gains with a 19.5 percent increase. Nonmetallic Minerals was up 13.8 percent, and Stone, Clay and Glass Products and Petroleum Products increased 9.3 and 9.0 percent respectively. Other Carloads led declines, down 18.1 percent. Crushed Stone, Sand and Gravel, Food and Kindred Products, Grain Mill Products, Pulp, Paper and Allied Products, Lumber and Wood Products, Waste and Scrap Materials, Metallic Ores, Trailer or Container and Metal and Products were also down in November.

Carloads originated for 2019 were at 3,892,481 through November 30, down about 24,000 carloads, or 0.6 percent from 2018.
