Foundry's Computerworld announced Railinc as a 2025 Best Places to Work in IT, which recognizes the top organizations that challenge their IT staffs while providing great benefits and compensation. Railinc was previously named one of the Best Places to Work in IT in 2021.

“It is an honor for Railinc to be named one of the best places to work in IT once again,” said Joan Smemoe, Railinc CIO and VP of Information Technology. “Our IT teams act strategically and skillfully to maintain Railinc infrastructure, implement meaningful updates, and meet critical deadlines each year. We are proud to support them with a robust wellness program, training initiatives for IT fundamentals and business requirements, and an open-door policy to share ideas.”

Railinc’s comprehensive development and internal learning programs endow team members with the knowledge and skills of Railinc applications, internal structure, and how an employee’s work affects the entire North American supply chain. A combination of quarterly all-employee meetings, monthly town halls, team meetings and one-on-ones give managers and employees a chance to discuss company goals and process improvements.

And, regardless of their role within the company, employees are offered the chance to take developmental courses, pursue higher degrees, earn certifications, and attend professional conferences and seminars that will be beneficial for their future at Railinc. Several Railinc employees have earned professional certifications with AWS, IBM, Google and more to equip them with the tools they need to succeed with changing technologies.

From hosting annual flu shot clinics to employee appreciation events to healthy breakfast events and financial wellness seminars, Railinc supports employee well-being on top of professional development goals. On-site yoga, boot camps, and employee-led sports and recreation events take place during the workday to give employees time to break away from computer screens and meetings.
