Railinc has announced that it will participate in car hire training, including leading sessions, at the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association’s 2013 annual convention. Two training seminars are scheduled for Sunday, April 28, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis in Atlanta, Ga.

“Car hire is a critical part of the financial operations of the entire freight rail industry,” said Jim Pinson, Railinc’s manager of car audit accounting. “This training, which includes basic and advanced sessions, will help those who work with related applications become more effective and better manage the car hire process.”

The seminars—Car Hire 101 and Car Hire 201—will run concurrently and will feature Railinc managers; car hire experts from many railroads; car hire systems providers; and car management services providers. They will cover a range of topics, including reporting and settlement of car hire, the reclaims process and interchange reporting. The training also will cover select Railinc applications used in the car hire process, such as the Liability Continuity System and the Damaged and Defective Car Tracking system.
