Why can’t I access specific equipment or perform certain actions, like deleting equipment?
You will need the proper access rights to manage equipment data in Umler. Reach out to your Company Administrator if you need your access rights updated.
Who can restencil equipment?
Any user who has received Confidential Data Rights access can restencil equipment. An Umler Company Admin must first accept the Confidential Rights granted by the selling or submitting entity and assign those rights to a user. For more information, refer to the Managing Access Rights quick guide or the Restenciling Equipment quick guide.
My company just purchased a railcar and/or locomotive from another road. Does this require a restencil?
Yes. The restenciling process is generally used when there is a change in ownership for a piece of equipment. If you need help restenciling, refer to our quick guide or reach out to csc@railinc.com.
Where can I see what equipment is in conflict? How do I resolve an equipment conflict?
From the Umler homepage, click the link titled ‘Equipment units in conflict’ and then select the car number for a detailed view. A link in the top left will state “Equipment is in conflict, click to view.” You will be directed to the location on the record that is in conflict and the explanatory message will be in red. To resolve the conflict, you will need to update the equipment record with any missing or out-of-date information.
