The number of carloads moved on short line and regional railroads in November 2024 was up compared to November 2023. Carloads originated increased 2.5 percent, from 349,209 in November 2023 to 358,053 in November 2024.
Grain Mill Products led gains for the second month in a row, up 22.4 percent. Metallic Ores led declines once again, down 19.1 percent.

Carloads originated for 2024 were at 3,953,603 through November 30, up nearly 143,000 carloads, or 3.6 percent from 2023.
