The number of carloads moved on short line and regional railroads in February 2025 was down compared to February 2024. Carloads originated decreased 0.4 percent, from 324,728 in February 2024 to 323,295 in February 2025.
Trailer or Container led gains, up 23.5 percent. Metallic Ores led declines, down 65.8 percent.

Carloads originated for 2025 were at 677,028 through February 28, up about 33,000 carloads, or 4.9 percent from 2024.
