RailSight® is a suite of applications designed to deliver rail shipment and equipment management data through a flexible framework that can be adapted to support the changing business needs of shippers, equipment owners, 3PLs and other industry stakeholders. Components of the RailSight suite include:

  • RailSight Track & Trace: RailSight Track and Trace sends out real-time rail data around the clock, tracking railcars and intermodal equipment and shipments on more than 560 rail carriers throughout North America. 
     
  • RailSight Monitor: RailSight Monitor offers real-time, immediate and actionable tracking information on railcar and intermodal shipments to help shippers improve fleet optimization, identify problem shipments or cars and manage loaded and empty equipment.  
     
  • RailSight Alerts: RailSight Alerts is a component of the RailSight application that enables users to create and manage alerts so that they are notified when certain conditions exist for equipment in their fleets.
     
  • RailSight Demand Trace: RailSight Demand Trace provides access to the complete lifecycle of one's shipments and equipment for more informed decisions and better planning.
     
  • RailSight Messaging: RailSight Messaging turns electronic supply chains into operational assets with the most secure, reliable and efficient communications available.

RailSight Demand Trace — Event History Web Service

This feature enables customers to request events that occurred up to 90 days in the past for one or more railcars. The response is returned in XML format.

RailSight Demand Trace — Last Event Web Service

This feature allows customers to request the last event for one or more railcars. The last event can be filtered by the load/empty status of the railcar or by a comma-separated list of four-digit event codes. The response is returned in XML format.

RailSight Demand Trace — Events in Date Range

This feature enables customers to request events that occurred up to 90 days in the past for one or more railcars. The response is returned in XML format.

RailSight Fleet API

RailSight Fleet API Services include the following requests:

  • Equipment in Fleet – Request a list of railcars in a fleet
     
  • Add Equipment to a Fleet – Add one or more pieces of equipment to a fleet
     
  • Specific Equipment in Fleet – Request details on a specific car in a fleet
     
  • Update Equipment in a Fleet – Update equipment within a fleet
     
  • Delete Equipment from a Fleet – Remove equipment from a fleet. The response is returned in JSON format

RailSight Movement API

RailSight Movement API Services include the following requests:

  • Last Event – Request the last event for a railcar
  • Event History – Request the events between two dates for one railcar
  • Active Trip – Request the events for the current active trip for a railcar
  • Last Trace – Request the last event, active waybill data, and trip plan ETA for a railcar
  • Trace History – Request the events, waybill data, and trip plan ETA between two dates for a railcar 
     
  • Active Trip Trace – Request the events, waybill data, and trip plan ETA for the current active trip for a railcar
  • Waybill – Request the latest waybill for a railcar. The response is returned in JSON format

RailSight ETA API

This feature allows customers to request the estimated time of interchange and arrival for an intermodal container. The response is returned in JSON format.
